Le Regret, Leytonstone

Creating a genuine, unfussy identity for the new pig on the block.

Direction, Branding and Identity for feisty neighbourhood wine bar in Leytonstone, East London.

BACKGROUND.

Asked by owners of Le Regret to create the identity for the launch of their new wine bar in a diverse and evolving neighbourhood, Leytonstone.

The name Le Regret originates from co-owner Jean's tattoo, with the pig originally an etching made by his partner, Josie. Pairing the two was a unanimous decision, and I went on to evolve and expand into a full system and identity.

DIRECTION.

This core lock-up is designed for high flexibility, remaining instantly identifiable even when the elements are used in isolation. The wider identity draws inspiration from the grit and charm of obscure postcards and dive-bar stickers.

DIRECTION.

I created a boisterous, yet considered visual language, leaning on 'found' assets from old zines and playful use of typography.

Rather than provide a ridged system and pages of guidelines to follow, I took a more authentic approach.

Staying true to the brand, I created a reusable set of elements, that could be applied over the top of found or promo assets.
